VoIP Audio Quality

Information for Customers Experiencing Audio Delays

spreed audio works best with destinations of 3000km or less. Higher distances can lead to a noticeable audio latency of about 0.4 seconds maximum (400 milliseconds for a distance of 18,000 km). However, if the distance of the participants is less than 3000km and an audio delay occurs, the customer’s IT environment is typically the source of the reduced audio quality.

Problems are usually related to the following:
  • lack of usable Internet bandwidth
  • slow firewalls
  • slow HTTP proxy servers in combination with firewalls
To verify where potential problems could occur, all customers should check their Internet environment by using the new spreed connection check facility located under the Help menu on the spreed website.

http://spreed.com/help/check/

If the connection check reports a problem, and either you or your IT department do not know how to interpret the report or resolve issues arising from the report, simply send a copy to spreed technical support for further assistance, email: info@spreed.com

spreed protects your corporate security
spreed complies with corporate security rules and in general does not attempt to overcome IT security firewalls or proxies like some other products do. Therefore, depending on the IT environment, this may cause spreed video and audio to be delayed. However, delays can often be improved by enabling your firewall to let spreed communicate much faster.
